Eva Hemp Linen has been certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) which evaluates four key categories: organic fibres, ecological and social criteria, processing stages, and third-party certification. 

Our GOTS certification means that every step of the way — from plant to final product — has met the strict specifications of GOTS.

We’re passionate about working with manufacturers who create safe working conditions for all employees and creating products that are not causing damage to our planet. While these certifications do, unfortunately, cost more, knowing that our customers are receiving a high-quality and ethical product that they can trust, means we can all sleep easy.

Our hopes are that sustainability and ethical manufacturing become the norm industry-wide, but this is only possible if consumers shift their purchasing habits towards more ethical products.

Certified organic

As well as being GOTS certified, Eva Hemp Linen is also certified organic. This means that the hemp used in our Hemp Linen was not sprayed with any 'cides or synthetics, and any dyes used are free from heavy metals and toxic chemicals.

Dyes used in manufacturing can end up in our waterways, so using non-toxic dyes is more sustainable for the earth and safer for the employees who are involved in the manufacturing process.

Certified organic dyes do cost more, but as well as the above benefits, they are also gentle on the skin. This is ideal for anyone with allergies, skin conditions (such as eczema) and young children. 

You’re spending 8 hours a night with your bedding, so the less harmful chemicals involved in the production the better! 

Durable and long-lasting 

Hemp is the most durable of all the natural fibres, surpassing flax linen, bamboo and cotton when it comes to wear and tear. This is the reason behind the popular saying "hemp doesn't wear out, it wears in." 

The idea of ‘wearing a product in’ speaks volumes to hemp linen’s quality and highlights how hemp grows softer with time, but never looks worn. And like all other high-quality products, the long-lasting nature of hemp is reflected in the price.

Cheaper items may seem like a bargain now, but they are probably just going to need replacing in a few months time. By buying less and choosing well, you're not only reducing landfill, but you're saving money by investing in products that will last you for decades. 

Hemp is a growing industry

Despite the fact the hemp plant cannot be used as a drug, it was made illegal for over a hundred years due to its close association with the cannabis plant. Because of this, the growth of the hemp industry has been delayed and finding good quality, GOTS certified hemp (used to make Eva Hemp Linen) can be difficult. 

To put it in perspective, the world production of cotton is around 25 million tonnes per year, whereas hemp is only 37,000 tonnes. The good news is the hemp industry is growing rapidly, as more and more people want to reduce their carbon imprint. 

In short, the more popular hemp becomes, the lower the cost will be! 

100 day trial

While our trial is not factored into the cost of our hemp linen, it is worth noting! Most sheet or duvet sets from traditional retailers come with strict return policies and often aren’t eligible for change of mind returns.
